Education + Blog = EduBlog *____*

Blogging? Learning??? How??

These are the questions that came to my mind when at the last part of our 3rd year, our professor, Mam VBG told us to look for templates and read a lot of books. My expression was like this *_________* because I thought "What's there in blogging?? It was vacation! It was time to relax...to chill out" and questions like "what will I learn from blogging? How can I increase my knowledge with that???" These were the questions that circulated in my mind that day…

So when vacation started, well I read - not school books - but love stories, fantasy novels, and fairy tales.
Waahhh, I really, really love reading happy ending stories, maybe that's the reason why I like writing very short love stories. Uhmmm back to reality, well i also read books and downloaded templates maybe a week or I think few days before classes began.

So when our professor gave us the first topic that we should explain in a blog post, I was like this ?_? because WAHH, it’s my first time to write a blog!! I was very nervous because I didn't know how to start and what to write. I admit that I'm not that good in English, and I'm afraid that my grammar could be wrong.. But I need to finish it, so I started making my very first blog post... nervousness much, but now!!!

Well, I have written 2 blog posts and I'm proud to say that!!

I can say that blogging can really help in Learning because when writing a blog you need to be resourceful. You need to read many books, borrow from the library, and download pdf files. It also improved my English? A little?? Hahaha.
Blogging really helped me to have some confidence in myself and to enjoy writing.

I hope you enjoyed reading my blog posts, and I hope you have learned something from what I have written. Why don’t you try making yours too?
Share what you have learned so that your smile will be like this:
Thanks For Reading!! :))

feel the Chemicals COLLIDE ♥♥♥♥♥

feel the Chemicals COLLIDE

Curious about my title? haha I'm not Inlove nor Broken-hearted, well it's just because when I'm doing this blog im listening to the music "COLLIDE" by Howie Day.  I Connect the word Collide with the topic that was given to us.. well do you have idea if what is that??? its about TOXICOLOGY!!

P.S : You can listen to the music by clicking the music box above :))

First of all what is the meaning of Collide and Toxicology?

Collide means "Hit with force when moving" or "Be incompatible; be or come into conflict" so it's obvious why i connect it with toxicology. well you might be asking why because Toxicology is the Study of Poisons. It is the study of conflicting effects of physical agents or chemicals on living organisms.

So when two chemicals interact with biological interaction they collide with each other. They produce adverse effects with each other, they are incompatible with each other.

 Let's Think about this qoutation:

“All substances are poisons, there is none which is not a poison. The right dose differentiates a poison from a remedy.” (Paracelsus, 1493-1541)

Based from the quotation we are surrounded by poisons, everything that is too much for us is poison, we must be careful in the proper usage so that it will bring the good effect to us and not the bad one.

Let see the brief history of Toxicology...

Toxicology began with the Cave dwellers, and because they live in caves their primary source of living is hunting animals, they use plant extracts that are poisonous and place it in their spears/arrow/hunting material. etc

                            POISONOUS PLANTS

There is also in the history the story of the King Mithridates VI of Pontus.  When Mithridates VI was at last defeated by Pompey and in danger of capture by Rome, he is alleged to have attempted suicide by poison; this attempt failed, however, because of his immunity to the poison
THE ROYAL TOXICOLOGIST - MITHRIDATES VI "MITRIDATUM"

Some of the famous  poisoning victim are Claudius, Cleopatra and Socrates.

Mathieu Joseph Bonaventure Orfila , a Spanish physician. He was the founder of toxicology.

Toxicity can be broken into 2 Categories :

acute toxicity
it pertains to the fast development of symptoms after taking in high dosage of toxicant.

chronic toxicity
it pertains to the effect of long exposure to low dosage of toxicant. you can get it via the traces of pesticides in air, food etc.

There are also two general types of toxic effect:

Lethal Effects: resulting in the death of humans

Sub-lethal Effects: other effects not directly resulting in death

www.google.images.com

Types of Damage cause by toxic chemicals

Carcinogenesis- caused by the induction of CANCER!
Mutagenesis - Genetic Damage
Physiological damage- Damage to the health of organism. it can be reversible or irreversible.
Teratogenesis- Can cause Death of the Fetus or Birth Defects.

So that's the very brief start of Toxicology... Now in the modern time the study of  toxicology  is very broad and scientist are studying of a way to fully understand toxicology. Now lets talk about the branches of toxicology.....

      MODERN DAY  BRANCHES OF TOXICOLOGY

♥Pharmacology

do you still know what this means???  Pharmacology is the concerned with the study of drug action within the body. it comes from the greek word  φάρμακον, pharmakon, "poison" in classic Greek; "drug" in modern Greek; and -λογία, -logia "study of", "knowledge of.

Specifically it focuses on the interaction between the living and chemicals that can affect their biochemical function.

♥ Occupational Toxicology

it deals with the effect to toxic chemicals etc. on workers. it evaluates adverse health effects that affect workers when working.

 ♥ Environmental Toxicology

it focuses on the effects of chemicals, physical agent on living organism and on the environment.

i correlated some of the lyrics of the song Collide to my Finale :))

"Even the best fall down sometimes, Even the wrong words seem to rhyme
Out of the doubt that fills my mind, somehow find you and I collide"

--- "Even the best fall down sometimes" means that even if they give you the very best if you are not taking it correctly nothing will happen, it may worsen the situation or something not good will happen to you...

"Even the wrong words seem to rhyme, Out of the doubt that fills my mind"  it means that when you take a medicine that is not right sometimes it gives you a feeling like everything is okay, example when you are depressed or nervous you take Alcohol and cigarette you feel that you can do everything or you have forgotten your nervousness or problem but in reality it's not.

"somehow find you and I collide" then at the last phase you just realized that taking that drugs is not right and it has brought you a more bigger problem and just worsen the situation.

So Studying Toxicology is important for us to know the right thing to do and how to minimize the chance of being poisoned, being overdosed and to know the importance of taking the right dosage to cure our illness and not be DEAD!!

thank you for reading :)
Hope you found what youve looking for :) ♥

Endocrinology

Endocrinology....

What comes to your mind when you hear this word?

Endocrinology by term means the study of endocrine system. It deals with the study of organs that makes hormones. How they are produce, their action, function and the disorders that can arise because of them. It also focuses on the analysis and treatment of endocrine disorders.

Now that we now what is endocrinology which is  the study of endocrine system that produces the hormones that are the messengers of the body. What is endocrine system?

Endocrine System

The endocrine system consist of specialized glands located in different parts of the body. it secretes the hormones that transfers information from one cell to another.they affect the behavior and body functions such as growth and metabolism. They enable the organism to adjust in various activities of the body  due to the changing demand of the external and internal environment.

Different Glands of Endocrine System

Pituitary Gland.

Just beneath our nose we will find a pea size gland that plays an important role in linking the endocrine system and the nervous system,  it is the Pituitary Gland. It produce the Growth hormone which promotes the muscle and bone growth and affects general metabolism.it is being controlled by the hypothalamus.

Pineal Gland

It is Located near the center of the brain of the humans, it secretes melatonin at night when dark.this is the reason why we feel Sleepy During the night because this hormone is affected by the amount of light the person is exposed.

Thyroid Gland and Parathyroid Gland

The Thyroid Gland synthesizes the hormones Thyroxine, Triiodothyronine, and Calcitonin which play a major role in the metabolism, maturation and growth of individual. The Parathyroid Gland which produce the Pituitary Gland. elevates Blood-Calcium Levels. Calcitonin and Prathyroid Hormone influence Bone Integrity and Calcium Absorption

 Thymus Gland

Its Primary function is to transform the lymphocytes into T-Cell.These are transported into different Lymph glands and they fight infection and disease.

Adrenal Gland

The adrenal Gland consist of two endocrine tissues, these are the : Medullary Region and the surrounding cortex. the Pituitary Gland. secretes epinephrine and norepinephrine in emergency or emotional situations which stimulates the heart and the vascular system. the Cortex secretes the corticosteroids such as cortisone. These suppresses immune system and they are anti Inflammatory.

Pancreas

The Pancreas secretes hormones such as Insulin and Glucagon that regulate the blood sugar level.

Gonads

The Gonads Produce the steroid sex hormones that stimulate reproductive processes, maintain secondary sex characteristic and influence growth. the Testes produce Androgen and testosterone. The Ovaries produce Estrogen, Progesterone and Relaxin.

As the Summary of this you watch the animated video about Endocrine system.
